- Structural Dynamics
Our engineering, development, and testing experience are backed by comprehensive CAE resources through a strategic virtual partnership.
Our development and testing services are backed by a comprehensive fabrication department that is equipped for one-off prototypes through low-volume production including machining, metal stamping and fabrication, composites and elastomers.
On-Road NVH Testing
On-road testing is performed at world-class automotive proving grounds situated to provide good year-round consistency of ambient conditions. Standard on-road test procedures provide responses to input from:
- Powertrain
- Idle
- Part Load
- Full Load
- Road Surface
- Rough
- Textured
- Undulating
- Driveline
- Wheel/Tire non-uniformity or imbalance
- Combined sources
Lab Testing
Where required for better source isolation or environmental consistency, vehicle testing can be performed in a laboratory environment. Wind tunnel and chassis dynamometer facilities are available to suit the most stringent needs. The LVD Team has extensive experience in Body-in-White air leakage testing and reduction.
Sensitivity Testing
LVD can perform sensitivity testing crucial to analyzing noise and vibration paths and understanding vehicle behavior. In addition to hammer impact testing, our team has extensive experience in determining and analyzing acoustic transfer functions.
Special Investigations
The Livernois NVH department can design and conduct special investigations to identify root causes and develop and validate corrective actions.
Damper Design and Development
Livernois has designed and produced prototype vibration dampers covering a wide range of mass, frequency, and bandwidth options, and is capable of low volume production and beyond.
Target Setting
Livernois can conduct benchmarking studies and translate the results into appropriate metrics and targets based on customer expectations. Through contribution assessments, the vehicle-level targets can be translated into requirements for components and subsystems.
Component Development / Cost Optimization
Powertrain, Chassis, and Body Structural Components. Livernois has the engineering, forming, fabrication, machining, and NVH testing capability to support a wide range of component development projects.
Sound Package. Livernois has extensive experience in sound package development, including:
- Dash insulators
- Carpet
- Headliner
- Door trim
- Seats
- Back panels
- Fender baffles
- Hood absorbers
- Pass-thru sealing and boots Test methods employed have included:
- Sound Transmission Loss
- Sound absorption
- Noise Reduction
- In-vehicle testing
Modal Analysis
Modal testing and analysis are key parts of successful Noise and Vibration engineering. Livernois has the hardware, software, and experience necessary to provide the knowledge and solutions for your system requirements. Testing can be performed on installed systems, on a bed plate, or free-free. Operational Deflection Shape testing and analysis can be performed to confirm the system motion during actual operation.
Structural Dynamics
System durability depends on good understanding of loading and motion. Livernois can measure vibration levels and structural motion in real environments and edit the data to facilitate accelerated testing.
